North Sea project / Doggerland
In September 2001 I was fortunate to receive the Robson Art & Design Masters Award from Sunderland University. This award has enabled me to investigate the relationship between the North Sea and the landscape of Northumberland. I am currently exploring the history of the area and its connection to the area of submerged land known as Doggerland. I am creating work looking at the land from the perspective of an incoming traveler, ie the view from the sea. and I am filming and photographing the sea from my kayak to create source material for work that combines painting with traditional and digital lens based techniques.
To date I have made 3 experimental films which can be viewed below along with paintings and photographs
